The publisher of my latest book Where are the Fellows who Cut the Hay went bust recently, and the staff and book contracts acquired by a new company Boundless who hoped, but so far have been unable, to pay any of the authors owed money.
Normally I’d be backing the new company and hoping that my next book, and others Boundless have in the pipeline, would succeed to the extent that in time, I’d be paid what I was owed. But after much thought and with some regret I have decided to take back the rights to both books and find a new publisher.
Hardback sales of Where are the Fellows have been good and the book was longlisted for a Wainwright Prize. I would expect a new publisher to produce a paperback edition this autumn, which would essentially relaunch the book. My next book Down to Earth I hope to see published early in 2026 as it is almost ready for editing.
In the short term, I have a stock of hardback copies here and am happy to sell them to both booksellers at an appropriate discount, and readers unable to source a copy from their usual bookshop. Please email me via my contact page if I can help.
My intention had been to stick with Unbound, and their fantastic team, for the rest of my writing career, but sadly that was not to be. I wish them every success in the future.
