I've had two reminders this last few days that just signing up to something is not enough. You have to actually put yourself out and actively get involved to get noticed and make a difference.

In both instances, I've realised that joining an organisation only takes you so far. It can be uncomfortable to change often deeply rooted habits and behaviours, but essential if you are to be truly useful. So I have resolved to become more active in my membership of both organisations. It's simply not good enough to remain on the fence, a member in name but not in deed.

The next two weeks are the perfect time to review what should stay and what should go. We owe it to ourselves and those we claim to support to start 2018 focused, determined and prepared to become proactive. Doing more in fewer places is the answer to getting noticed for the right reasons. Watch this space!
