I often get invited to speak about entrepreneurship at events. Over the years I've spoken to audiences of start-ups, social entrepreneurs and most memorably, a travel-trade conference in Lanzarote and a group of business studies teachers in Addis Ababa.
Although I've been listed by several speaker agencies over the years, bookings have always come from those who've discovered me for themselves. I prefer not to have one polished presentation I deliver everywhere. Instead I research each audience and tailor my session to meet their needs. I prefer to inform than to entertain, although I do use humour effectively.
One thought is to gather together a small band of like minded, passionate and very individual speakers who have something to say and start a speaker agency of my own. I suspect that offering a choice between a handful of truly authentic speakers might do the trick. What do you think?
