Charity development

Many very worthwhile charities are feeling the pinch. Those delivering public sector contracts particularly so. What’s more the traditional solutions to financial challenge no longer work. Loud protest and blunderbuss grant applications might make you feel better, but they won’t solve the problem.

Robert Ashton takes a different approach. An approach that is delivering sometimes remarkable results, including encouraging statutory funders to improve their offer to charities who’s funding they’d cut.

There are five things that Robert does really well in these situations:

1. Work with Trustees and the senior team to agree sometimes bold and challenging goals;

2. Translate often complex activities into a service offer any funder can understand and value;

3. Eliminate the tension between service commissioners and the charity, working as mediator, broker and trusted partner to get people engaged in an adult to adult way;

4. Identify previously unnoticed opportunities, then making them a sustainable reality;

5. Subtle lobbying, locally, regionally and nationally to force the debate and deliver political, economic and social gains that help everyone shine as a winner.

Robert fully understands that committing to his unconventional methodology can take a leap of faith. He charges nothing until he has convinced you and perhaps your Trustees that he understands where you are and can get you where you want to go
