If there's one principle that defines success today it's collaboration. As we all focus more tightly on our respective areas of expertise, so the need to work with others increases. Too often I meet people trying to do it all themselves. I've been there myself and have learned the hard way that you cannot be best at everything.

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to broker and manage innovative, often cross sector partnerships.

  For example:
  • Charities can often do social enterprise better when partnered with a for profit organisation.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility is best done with at least one, long term charity or community partner.
  • Business good practice is often best delivered outside the lecture theatre, even in a place of entertainment, where learning becomes fun.
  • Schools can build strong, sustainable community links, in particular with local businesses and social care organisations, if that partnership delivers them measurable business benefits.
  • Public sector bodies can better deliver positive social change if they engage with both grassroots organisations and funders.
  This is a subject that cross cuts all of my work. It makes my approach quite different from that of your standard ‘straight line thinking' consultant.
