Biography
I was born in 1955 at Clacton, on the Essex coast and have lived for most of my life in Eastern England. A rebellious child, I was unconvinced by schooling but only realised why decades later when my son joined Mensa. With him, I attended a seminar to understand the challenges of educating very bright children and learned a lot about myself. Agriculture was my chosen subject at college, followed by a ten year sales and marketing career in the fertilizer industry. It was here that I learned how to sell. A couple of years in a pioneering role with a mobile home manufacturer followed, before I became my own boss in 1990.
Over the next 13 years I ran my own marketing services agencies before selling the company to my team in 2003. Those years gave me both the experience of growing my own business and a unique insight into the challenges faced by hundreds of others.
I started writing books in 2003 and in 2008 returned to ‘hands on’ entrepreneurship, launching a social enterprise publishing business. This company will demonstrate very clearly how my vision for tomorrow’s enterprise differs from much of what we see around us today.
For more than 26 years I have been happily married to Belinda and we have two grown up children. We live in a converted barn in South Norfolk and actually, life is very good!
