Robert revealed as The People's new blogger
NORFOLK CAMPAIGNER SET TO IMPROVE UNDERSTANDING OF MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES NATIONALLY Norfolk based writer, speaker and campaigner Robert Ashton has just been revealed as The People’s new voice on mental health issues nationally. Robert is already known in the county for his role in leading mental health projects. In 2006 he led a bid to run the 3 year mental health anti-stigma campaign in Norwich and subsequently introduced the Living Library concept to Norfolk. He also campaigned for the establishment of a Community Foundation in Norfolk. The Norfolk Community Foundation, of which he is still a trustee, now has £1m in endowed funds and last year awarded over £600k in grants across the county. Robert is well established as a business author and columnist. He’s currently writing his 12th book How to be a Social Entrepreneur and his work has been translated into 15 languages selling in several countries across the world. In 2008 he stepped out of his usual genre, writing I Know Someone Like That to raise funds for the Stuff Stigma campaign and to combat prejudice generally. Stephen Fry wrote the forward, hailing it as; “A magnificent counterblast to the stigma and prejudice, ignorance and fear that afflicts the realm of mental health in this country.” He continued; “I Know Someone Like That is a clear, readable and immensely touching account of how real people cope in the real world. I recommend this to everyone, for as the title suggests, we all know someone...” Robert also lives with depression. He has learned how to manage his demons and now helps others do the same. He believes that taking control of your life is the key to personal success whether from a business or personal perspective and he sees his mission as writer is to help others do exactly that.
