I was asked recently by a charity CEO for some testimonials. He wants me to facilitate a Trustee away day and they were naturally cautious. Who is this man and what qualifies him to work with us - and even be paid, were their comments.

Keen to rise to the challenge, I asked a few people to send him some feedback on my work in this sector. In case you are tempted to hire me too (and I charge not for profits a far lower daily rate than I do everyone else) here is what they said - unedited!

Robert,

Thanks for the email and I would like to confirm that your assumptions are correct. I am in the middle of an intensive piece of work at the moment, which if possible I would like your input on in due course. Your introduction to both Meridian East and Charlie’s is very much appreciated.

By the way your website is exceptional, as are your Tips for the Day. Your honesty and real life approach to business and social concerns is refreshing.

With thanks once again,

Russ

Robert asked me if I would drop you a line re the relationship he has with us. Over a number of months Robert has worked with us as a consultant to help us develop new business opportunity and also to raise the profile of the organisation by developing a sustainable marketing strategy which will meet our business needs for the future. Roberts has certainly exceeded expectations. He has already brokered several exciting new business opportunities and offers a very creative and energized support to our marketing dept. He has returned our financial investment tenfold!!!!! I can thoroughly recommend him. I personally think he is very talented individual who has a great deal to offer. You won’t be disappointed !! I intend to offer him an ongoing arrangement. Please do get in touch if you need any further details

With kind regards Alan

Robert Ashton was part of the initial project group, and subsequently a trustee, that brought Norfolk Community Foundation from a good idea to an established charity. Robert is an activist who is committed to bringing people together to take new ideas and make them happen. He is very energetic and committed to making a difference. Although not part of the third sector, Robert is able to bring his entrepreneurial skills to the sector with great effect. His enthusiasm, ideas and his willingness to get his hands dirty have been instrumental in the success of the Foundation. As with all creative thinking, not all ideas are feasible, but Robert’s creative thinking produces substantial benefits and creates a cultural of entrepreneurialism and thinking out of the box that is vital to any dynamic organisation.

About The Entrepreneur's book of Checklists

Great book for a newly formed CIC to launch itself successfully - thanks. Would you be interested in collaborating on a similar checklist approach to support the roll-out of the extended schools agenda - all schools providing access to a 'core offer' by 2010? I believe it would be highly successful.
