Listen to your customers - don't slam the door in their faces!

I spotted this shop window in Norwich the other week and had to return with my camera. It's a well presented independent retail outlet, in a good position with I am sure a good flow of business.

The sign in the door however, suggests that they don't actually listen to what the customer says. Why turn away at the door people who want to buy shoes? Instead, wouldn't it be nicer to:

  • carry a stock of shoes to go with the wedding dresses?
  • send shoe customers to a nearby shop that in return recommends them?
  • have a shoe catalogue and get stock in for customers to try when they return for their dress fitting?

Almost anything is better than greeting everyone with 'we don't sell shoes'.

It's kind of unfriendly, isn't it!
